Paris St-Germain are already committed to spending £166m this summer to make Kylian Mbappé’s transfer from Monaco permanent, but rumours that they might be forced to squirm out of the deal at the last minute have got several other deep-pocketed clubs excited.
Apparently the French side could be sucked into some kind of financial fair play-related quagmire over the summer and the chaos it causes would be so overwhelming that they will have to cancel the Mbappé deal, allowing Manchester United or Manchester City to sneak in and steal the fleet-footed youngster away. The offer United are considering would involve Anthony Martial heading to Monaco along with a cheque for some £86m – though they might have to come up with another plan if Martial moves to Juventus beforehand, with the Frenchman rumoured to be discussing personal terms – while City, the very model of financial fair play themselves, would probably be able to find that kind of loose change lying around somewhere.
City are also ready to push through the signing of Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez, but the player is unexpectedly stalling the deal while he negotiates a so-called loyalty bonus with his current club. Apparently they believe he doesn’t merit one because he demanded the transfer, he believes he does merit one because he later withdrew his transfer request, hence the current grumpy stand-off.
Eden Hazard is so keen to move to Real Madrid that his father, Thierry, contacted the Spaniards before the Champions League final to offer them his son’s services. They are yet to make a move but according to Marca it could still happen, particularly if they fail to sign Neymar and decide to sell Gareth Bale. In other English/Spanish news the new Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, has been pestering Argentina’s Ever Banega with phone calls in an attempt to lure the Sevilla midfielder to London.
Everton want to spruce up their own midfield by signing Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere, both of whom could be forced out of their London clubs in search of more gametime. The former might be available only on loan while the latter can be signed for free, and Marco Silva is keen on having them both. He seems less keen on having Morgan Schneiderlin, who could soon move to Marseille, or for that matter Ashley Williams and Yannick Bolasie.
According to Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona and Real Madrid are set to battle for the services of Thiago Alcântara, who Bayern Munich are ready to sell for €70m. Barcelona are also keen on PSV’s World Cup-starring Mexico starlet Hirving Lozano but will sell Yerry Mina, Colombia’s giant goalscoring centre-back, with Mundo Deportivo revealing their doubts about his tactical understanding and Real Betis said to be keen. Borussia Dortmund, Fenerbahce or a number of English sides could also swoop for the 23-year-old.
Newcastle’s Matt Ritchie could return to his previous club, Bournemouth, as part of a deal that sends the £20m-rated Josh King in the other direction. Yasin Ben El-Mhanni will soon leave Tyneside with Watford, Wolves and Leeds all keen to keep him in England and Sporting hoping to lure the winger to Portugal.

West Ham United have already made three signings this summer with the promise of more to come.
While Newcastle face an uncertain summer under Mike Ashley in the transfer market, West Ham co-owner David Gold pledged he and fellow co-owner David Sullivan will back new boss Manuel Pellegrini with unprecedented spending, as reported by talkSPORT.
And the signs have been good so far for West Ham with Ryan Fredericks arriving on a superb free transfer from Fulham, brilliant young French centre back Issa Diop arriving from Toulouse for a club record fee of over £22 million and Lukas Fabianski snapped up from relegated Swansea City for £7 million.
Rafa Benitez knows he must add some much-needed quality to his Newcastle squad to compete after punching well above their weight last term.
The Hammers have been linked with a host of stars including the likes of Alfie Mawson, Marlon Santos, Rafinha, Mario Gotze and Felipe Anderson.
And now reports in Italy from CalcioNapoli24 are linking the Hammers with a keen interest in Napoli striker Roberto Inglese, which could actually be good news for Newcastle.
Inglese, whose name translates as Robert English, is the archetypal target man and stands at 6ft2 and renowned for his aerial ability with 57 goals in 259 career games so far.
It comes with the future of injury-prone target man and Magpies target Andy Carroll in doubt as Pellegrini ushers in a new era and style of football in East London.
Carroll has been linked with a return to boyhood club Newcastle, as reported by the likes of Chronicle Live.
The Chilean will meet with new director of football Mario Husillos and West Ham's owners for the first time together on Monday as the club thrashes out its final plans for incomings and outgoings this summer.
And Newcastle-born Carroll is expected to be the biggest name with a question mark above his head.
CalcioNapoli24 claim West Ham wanted the £15 million rated striker but face competition from Sporting CP and Bologna.
The report also cites his aerial prowess as an ideal attribute to thrive in the Premier League.
The centre-forward was bought from Chievo last summer for £8 million, but stayed at the Stadio Bentegodi on loan, scoring 12 goals in 34 Serie A appearances.
Now that Carlo Ancelotti has replaced Maurizio Sarri as Napoli boss, Inglese is believed to be surplus to requirements.
With just 33 goals in six years the Hammers will surely be open to selling Carroll and Newcastle could bring him back to St James' Park for a knockdown fee.

The 26-year-old prefers to stay in the capital in order to avoid unsettling his family, but the lack of a long-term contract offer could force him to look elsewhere.
Mauricio Pellegrini has reservations over Wilshere's fitness, claim the Sun, meaning Wilshere will be forced to prove himself on an initial one-year deal.
That could force Wilshere to look elsewhere, with Marco Silva keen to take him to Goodison after taking over at Everton.
Juventus are also monitoring the situation, though the Old Lady would not be able to guarantee first team football.

West Ham ‘in pole’ to sign defender, talks ongoing, another PL club keen
After being a daily thing for a week or so, Marlon to West Ham went quiet in the Catalan media, but there’s now an explanation of the situation from Mundo Deportivo.
In their Monday edition, the Catalan newspaper has a Barcelona transfer special and Marlon gets his own little section and a mention in the general article on the club’s exits.
In the general section it says the transfer of Marlon to West Ham had been ‘taken for granted’ which is why Barca brought him back from Nice halfway through his two year loan.
Then in Marlon’s own article it’s explained Barcelona have been in talks with West Ham and the club remain ‘in pole’ to complete the signing.
Talks are continuing even though nothing has materialised yet, and from an optimistic stance, Mundo Deportivo say it was considered only the ‘fringes’ of a transfer needed finalising to make it happen.
Should West Ham interest be as concrete as has been presented then they may need to hurry, with it being stated there’s now another, unnamed, Premier League club in the running to sign the defender.

West Ham United join the race to sign Weghorst
According to RTV Oost, AZ Alkmaar striker Wout Weghorst could be heading to the Premier League with West Ham United.

The 25-year-old was excellent for AZ Alkmaar last season, scoring 18 league goals and contributing six assists, which earned him his debut for the Dutch national team.
Weghorst is now heading for a move abroad and can count on interest from several clubs including Wolfsburg, Hannover 96, and Leed United. Now, according to RTV Oost, West Ham United have registered their interest in the forward and want to take him to the Premier League.
AZ director Max Huiberts confirmed to De Telegraaf on Monday that there is plenty of interest in Weghorst and it seems a departure is only a matter of time.

West Ham's Martin Samuelsen set to leave on loan again

After being relegated from the Championship with Burton Albion, it seems Martin Samuelsen is not ready for Premier League football at West Ham United.
Another year, another loan move for Martin Samuelsen.
In his three years as a West Ham player, the 21-year-old Norwegian has had temporary spells at Peterborough United, Blackburn Rovers and Burton Albion. In that time, he has made just two first-team appearances for The Hammers, both coming in Europa League qualifiers.
And with Samuelsen’s path to the first team seemingly blocked, Dutch publication De Limburger is reporting that this one-time Manchester City youngster could be on his way to Holland.
It is understood that West Ham want to loan the elegant attacker out again this summer and VVV Venlo have expressed an interest. The so-called ‘Pride of the South’ want to add wingers to their squad after losing both Romeo Castelen and Torino Hunte, and are understood to be very keen on the young West Ham talent.
The Dutch top flight, which is renowned for its open, expansive attacking football, could prove to be a good fit for a player like Samuelsen who is gifted, creative and intelligent but perhaps lacks the physicality required to succeed in England.
He failed to register either a goal or an assist in nine games for Burton between January and May, during which time Nigel Clough’s side were relegated from the Championship.
